Filmmaking is not only fun, creative and rewarding, it’s also a great way to explore and learn.
With inexpensive cameras and software available in most schools, you’re never too young or too old to start your career as a filmmaker. Our course - new this academic year - is designed to give you practical frameworks you can use at your school. You’ll go away full of confidence and new ideas of how to harness your pupils’ creativity and use filmmaking for focused learning around any topic.
Whether you are planning to create your own short films for the classroom or work with your pupils on a collaborative masterpiece, our tried and tested techniques will ensure your projects exceed everyone’s expectations.
The training, like all of our courses, is hands-on from the outset. With very little theorising, it’s straight into real challenges that model the use of filmmaking in both primary and secondary school environments as closely as possible. You’ll be guided through the entire production process and will get to devise, film and edit your own short film to take away on one of our very special Bristol Film Academy USB sticks, together with a set of tips, tricks and templates - everything you need to help you apply what you’ve learned when you return to your class.
The course covers:
✔ Making use of whatever kit and software is available
✔ Coming up with ideas that work on screen
✔ Building in your learning objectives
✔ Storyboarding and scripting
✔ Simple filming tips
✔ Easy ways to record great sound
✔ Editing
✔ Outputting and sharing your films
...and much more!
