Wells Cathedral School

Nurturing Creativity

Most Independent Schools have promotional videos these days.  When Wells Cathedral School's marketing department approached The Bristol Film Academy, they knew they wanted something different, something more genuine than the 'corporate' videos of many of their competitors.

After some brainstorming, we decided that the only way to get a real sense of the school was to involve students and staff in the production.  Working with the Deputy Head and the Head of Media Studies, we devised a programme of training sesssions that would transform a group of thirteen students - selected from Years 9 to 13 - into competent film makers.

The group had plenty of raw talent and creativity and, over the course of two terms, trainers from The Bristol Film Academy showed them how to construct their ideas in a way that would work for film.

The end results - a series of promotional films for the school's website - have created a huge wave of positive publicity for the school.

"It was a fantastic day and the pupils really enjoyed working with the software and equipment. Being able to promote creativity in science leads to progression in a difficult subject. "
